About

Welcome to AME Archives, a comprehensive digital resource dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history of the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church. Our platform provides access to historical documents, interactive tools, and educational resources to support scholars, educators, and the general public in exploring the profound legacy of the AME Church.

Our Features

  • Database: Our extensive digital archive contains a vast collection of church repositiores, allowing users to search and study the development of the AME Church and its impact on African American history. You can search the database by filtering out the options, and clicking on the congregation’s link. Each link will take you to a customized page. There are currently over 3,000 churches included in the database.
  • Digital Exhibit: Through curated digital exhibitions, we bring to life significant moments, figures, and movements within AME history. These exhibits showcase rare documents, multimedia content, and expert narratives to provide deeper insights into the church’s role in social justice, education, and community empowerment.
  • Lesson Plans: Designed for educators and students, our lesson plan repository offers structured teaching materials that align with educational standards. These resources provide guided exploration of AME history, civil rights activism, and the broader African American experience.
  • Mapping Tools: Our interactive mapping feature allows users to visualize the geographic spread and influence of the AME Church over time. Explore historical church locations, migration patterns, and key sites of activism with our dynamic, research-driven maps.
